62 Days and Counting…What Will You Do?

Happy Halloween!

Another month is coming to an end and with two months left in 2012, another year is also coming to an end. 62 days until 2013! For those in the path of Sandy, it may have felt like the world was coming to an end during the last few days, but alas we are still here. It’s looking even more certain that the Mayan predictions may have been off and we’ll see another New Year.

New Year’s resolutions and commitments to new beginnings are not far off. We’ll declare a fresh start and make proclamations about what we intend to do. Wouldn’t it be nice though to start 2013 well on your way to something versus “starting fresh”? Or rather than celebrating a new beginning, instead raising a glass to attained goals and dreams fulfilled. You have that opportunity. You have 62 days to make it happen.

What will you do in the next 62 days? Here are some ideas:

  • Form a new habit (which on average takes 2 months. Perfect!): Exercise 2 times a week; read one chapter of self-improvement or educational book every day
  • Complete an important task: Submit your MBA applications; take the GMAT
  • Discover your BHAG (big hairy audacious goal): Figure out what you want to be when you grow up; determine the impact that you want to have on the world
  • “Lean in” on the things that you have already committed to accomplishing: turn around a thus far uninspired performance at work, at home, in your relationships, in your volunteer activities

For me, by the end of this year, I will finish this book that I am writing! Completed manuscript by December 31st or bust! And I not take clutter into the New Year (namely on my dining room table which is the ultimate paper catch all and my basement which is the large item catch all).

62 days is not a lot of time, but it is enough time! What are you going to do?
